Mosquito Control Methods
Effective mosquito control addresses multiple stages of the mosquito lifecycle. This includes reducing adult populations with adulticides*, suppressing host-seeking activity with traps and mosquito stations, and limiting future populations through larval control products.* The appropriate strategy depends on site conditions, mosquito pressure, and long-term control objectives.
Mosquito Stations and Population Control
Mosquito stations are water-holding receptacles designed to attract egg-laying mosquitoes. When paired with an EPA-registered larvicide,* they interrupt the breeding cycle at the larval stage. By targeting reproduction, mosquito stations help reduce populations gradually and predictably over time.
These stations are well suited for properties experiencing ongoing mosquito pressure and are commonly deployed as part of an integrated mosquito management program. Rather than delivering immediate adult knockdown, they provide steady population suppression through consistent service.
Why MosquitoCon® Stations Stand Out
The MosquitoCon® Water Holding Receptacle is engineered for long-term mosquito population management. It supports structured service schedules—monthly, quarterly, or year-round—and can be adapted to local mosquito pressure and regulatory requirements.
Designed for professional use, MosquitoCon® features a heavy-duty concrete base, dual-wall construction, and a secure locking mechanism for durability and stability. Its low-profile design allows for discreet placement in shaded, mosquito-prone areas, while an integrated leaf guard helps prevent large debris from entering the unit.
The internal receptacle holds 96 ounces of water, supporting extended service intervals. Independent test results from a Snell Scientific Mosquito Entry Assessment indicate an entry rate exceeding 90% for the primary container-breeding mosquito species, Aedes aegypti.
Operational efficiency is also a priority. Fast servicing, supported by barcode tracking and the VM Universal Key®, enables technicians to maintain more placements per day.
Effective Placement
A larvicide* is only effective if mosquitoes can access it. Stations should be placed in areas where mosquitoes rest and breed, including shaded harborage sites and high-activity “hot spots.”
Not Intended For
MosquitoCon® is not designed for:
- Instant adult knockdown
- Indoor use
- Replacing the elimination of standing water
- Use without an EPA-registered larvicide
*Always read and follow all label directions and local regulations.
